The Environment Agency has today launched their consultation on the long-anticipated Strategic Review of Charges.
This is a wholesale review of a number of charging schemes for the permitting services provided by the Environment Agency for the period of 2018-2023. It impacts any operator that is required to have a permit for operation under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (EPR). As such, this is of particular importance to all ORG members.
This is the first time the EA have performed a significant review to many of their charges in over 25 years. As such, they hope that the proposals should allow their activities to be more cost reflective and cover the full cost of their activities.
The consultation period is fairly short so we would encourage members to review what this consultation means for them and feedback views as soon as possible. The deadline for response submissions to the EA is the 12 January 2018.
Go here for detail on how to provide your feedback to the REA.
